Terms of Service

Last Updated: April 2, 2026

Welcome

Thank you for visiting savegroundwater.org. We are Save Groundwater Foundation, a 501(c)(3) nonprofit registered in Delaware, United States, and JalTara Save Groundwater Foundation, a Section 8 nonprofit registered in India (together, “we,” “us,” or “our”).

Our mission is to restore and protect groundwater resources through community-driven recharge solutions. We built this website—and the JalTara mobile application—to share our work, connect with supporters and partners, and help others adopt the JalTara approach to groundwater conservation. These Terms of Service (“Terms”) set out the basic ground rules for using our website, app, and related services (collectively, the “Services”). By using our Services, you agree to these Terms.

1. Using Our Services

We want our Services to be useful and accessible to everyone—donors, volunteers, partner organizations, researchers, government agencies, and anyone interested in groundwater conservation. We simply ask that you use the Services responsibly:

  • Follow all applicable laws and regulations

  • Do not attempt to gain unauthorized access to our systems or disrupt our Services

  • Do not use automated tools (bots, scrapers, etc.) to access the Services without our written permission

  • Do not upload or transmit viruses, malware, or other harmful code

  • Treat other users and our team with respect

You must be at least 18 years old to create an account or make a donation through our Services.

2. Our Content and Intellectual Property

The text, images, graphics, videos, data, software, and overall design of our Services are owned by or licensed to us and are protected by copyright and other intellectual property laws. We grant you a personal, non-commercial license to browse, download, and share our content for educational, research, and advocacy purposes—provided you credit Save Groundwater Foundation or JalTara Save Groundwater Foundation as the source.

If you are a nonprofit, foundation, government body, or research institution and would like to reproduce, adapt, or redistribute our content in ways that go beyond personal use, we would love to hear from you. Please reach out to us at contact@savegroundwater.org so we can discuss how to work together.

3. The JalTara® Name and Methodology

“JalTara” is a registered trademark of JalTara Save Groundwater Foundation in India. We ask that you respect this trademark by not using the JalTara name or logo in a way that implies endorsement or affiliation with us without our permission.

That said, our goal is for the JalTara groundwater recharge methodology to be adopted as widely as possible. We actively encourage other nonprofits, foundations, community organizations, and government agencies to learn from, adapt, and implement the JalTara approach in their own regions. If you are interested in deploying JalTara-style recharge pits, collaborating on research, or building on our methods, we welcome the conversation. Please contact us at contact@savegroundwater.org to explore partnership and knowledge-sharing opportunities.

4. Accounts

Some features of our Services require an account. If you create one, you are responsible for keeping your login credentials secure and for any activity that takes place under your account. Please let us know right away if you suspect unauthorized access.

We may suspend or close accounts that violate these Terms, but we will make reasonable efforts to contact you first unless the situation requires immediate action.

5. Donations

We are grateful for every contribution. Donations made through our Services are voluntary and generally non-refundable. Payments are handled by third-party processors; we do not store your credit card or bank account details.

Save Groundwater Foundation is tax-exempt under Section 501(c)(3) of the U.S. Internal Revenue Code, and donations may be tax-deductible to the extent allowed by law. We will provide receipts for your records. Please consult your tax advisor for guidance specific to your situation.

6. Links to Other Websites

Our Services may link to websites operated by others—partner organizations, news outlets, research institutions, and the like. We provide these links for your convenience and information, but we do not control those sites and are not responsible for their content or practices. We encourage you to review the terms and privacy policies of any site you visit.

7. Disclaimers

We work hard to keep our Services accurate and up to date, but we cannot guarantee that everything will always be perfect. Our Services are provided “as is” and “as available.” To the extent permitted by law, we disclaim warranties of merchantability, fitness for a particular purpose, and non-infringement.

In particular, the information on our Site about groundwater recharge, hydrology, and related topics is provided for educational and informational purposes. It is not a substitute for professional engineering, environmental, or legal advice. If you are planning a groundwater recharge project, we encourage you to engage qualified local experts and to contact us for guidance.

8. Limitation of Liability

To the fullest extent permitted by law, neither Save Groundwater Foundation nor JalTara Save Groundwater Foundation—nor our officers, directors, employees, volunteers, or agents—shall be liable for any indirect, incidental, special, consequential, or punitive damages arising from your use of or inability to use the Services.

Our total aggregate liability for all claims related to these Terms or the Services shall not exceed one hundred U.S. dollars (USD $100).

9. Indemnification

If your use of our Services or violation of these Terms results in a claim against us, you agree to indemnify and hold harmless Save Groundwater Foundation, JalTara Save Groundwater Foundation, and their respective officers, directors, employees, volunteers, and agents from any resulting liabilities, damages, losses, and reasonable expenses (including attorney’s fees).

10. Changes to These Terms

We may update these Terms from time to time. When we do, we will post the revised version here with an updated “Last Updated” date. For material changes, we will make reasonable efforts to notify you through a notice on our Site or by email. Your continued use of the Services after changes take effect means you accept the revised Terms.

11. Governing Law and Dispute Resolution

These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of Delaware, United States, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.

If a dispute arises, we ask that you contact us first so we can try to resolve it together in good faith. If we are unable to reach a resolution within thirty (30) days, either party may seek resolution through the courts of competent jurisdiction in Delaware.

12. General Provisions

If any part of these Terms is found to be unenforceable, that part will be adjusted to the minimum extent necessary, and the rest will remain in effect. These Terms, together with our Privacy Policy, make up the entire agreement between you and us regarding your use of the Services.
